Meet the founders
Kòkòrò: The beginnings
Kòkòrò was founded in April 2026 out of the desire for a space where “doing too much” is accommodated, craved. It is a journal for the ‘too much’, the whimsical, absurd, and experimental—it is for works that do not make the cut, for the anarchists, the in-betweens, surrealists, slipstream, and insurrectionists.
Naturally, it was founded by two young women writers trying to navigate the insanity of everyday life. We said to ourselves, ah-ahn! the people that are running literary journals don’t have two heads, let’s start our own. However, as we make progress, we’ve realized that we were deeply mistaken—these people have two heads. We’re currently working on growing extra heads.

Sunmisola Odusola
Sunmisola Odusola writes on existence, love, and death, and daydreams about making surrealist art someday. They have had their works published in Backwards Trajectory, Brittle Paper, Fiery Scribe Review, Lolwe, Journal of Compressed Creative Arts, April Centaur, Eunoia Review, and elsewhere. Chinaza James-Ibe
Chinaza James-Ibe writes, edits fiction, and fiddles with photography. Her work is forthcoming or has appeared in The Mbari, Olumo Review, 20:35 Africa's Anthology Vol. VIII, Luminary Lines, Poetry Column-NND, Poetry Sango-Ota, Akewi, Isele Magazine, Lolwe, The Shallow Tales Review, Agbowo, Brittle Paper, and elsewhere.
